Electronic Engineering

The Department of Electronic Engineering is one of the pioneer departments of the National University of Science and Technology. It opened its doors to some of the university’s first students in 1991, with an intake of 30 students. At its inception the department was located at the ZESA Training Centre in Bulawayo and later on moved to its current home, the Chemical Engineering Building at the main campus. The Department prepares students for the Bachelor of Engineering Honours degree through a five-year programme, in which the fourth year is designated as an industrial attachment year. We also offer research-based MPhil and DPhil programmes. The Electronic Engineering programme seeks to add value to the heritage-based Education 5.0 approach by producing quality graduates who will produce environment and scenario-specific solutions for communities and industry in Zimbabwe and globally. The department provides teaching, training and research in the areas of electronic systems, industrial control and machines, computer engineering and communication engineering. We also offer consultancy services in PV Solar system sizing and training module design to individuals and companies. We continue being open to partnerships and interdisciplinary research opportunities for the mutual benefit of our department and organizations interested in working with us.

Mission

Our mission is to produce graduates who will meet the challenge of working as professional engineers in Zimbabwe.
